HaikusHaiku is a traditional Japanese verse-form. It consists of three lines, which together add up to seventeen syllables (sounds or taps). The first line contains 5 syllables, the second has seven syllables, and the third line has five syllables.
A haiku can be described as a short snapshot poem, which captures a particular moment or feeling. Traditional Japanese Haiku’s use nature as their subject, but you can chose another subject if you like. Here are some examples of Haiku poems: 1. The dying plant bends And drips its dew to the ground It falls like a tear 2. The first line has five The second line has seven The third line has five 3. Nobody travels Along this way but I, This autumn evening. YOUR TASK: Now try to write your own Haiku following the 5, 7, 5 format.
